Hi,
I am haveing a hard time play the High Notes on the Piccolo Eb above the staff and above to be exact. Can anyone help? I don't know if it is my ombechour which I think it is but am not for shure. So if any that has had the same proplem could help me determin the problem and correct it it would be very helpful for Marching Band next School Year. E-Mail me at kingst@frontiernet.net

This always helps me. blowing your heart out does the trick most of the time. Just a full jet/stream of air.

hehe...that would be the mistake for most beginners. You don't want to have a hard air stream(blowing your lungs out) but rather a fast stream, in which you have to purse your lips quite a bit. Otherwise you will tend to be out of tune, and really loud, which is exactly the opposite of what you want.

Yes- your only bet is to practice, practice, practice. It's probably your embrosure. It's nothing you can change immediately. It's like when you're learning flute (Which yes, I know, is very different from piccolo)- it takes practice. As your muscles develop you will be able to hit higher and higher notes. Even now, if I haven't been playing on a bi-daily basis, my face starts to hurt playing anything higher than that high F because it's just so tight.
Good luck w/ that piccolo business. I miss it, but flute is fun, too...
