Hey a good book to start Clarinet with is Essential Elements 2000, Clarinet Book 1. It has a play along cd and everything. I started playing Trombone with that book, it helps alot for a beginner.

Well.....
Since the American teaching is so poor they have to use crappy books.
Get Klose :]]
U will probably be overwhelmed as soon as u open the book. but dont worry!
it comes jam packed with a total fingering chart! and many ways on producing nice tone for beginers.
altho it doesnt have adequate begining songs. u can find a book with folk songs or w/e
also get urself an encyclopedia on scales and chords
Klose will help ur tone and technique only( hell of a technique ;})
GL!
