I'm intressted in finding out what the low low A fingering is I haven't been able to find. All the books I've looked in go dowm to A sharp. My teacher is bugging me to find ouy but I can't find it. HELP!

There is no low A. The only way you can get a low A is if you modify the bell of your saxophone........or you stick your foot in the bell.........there is no low A. If your teacher cites any literature calling for a low A, he will probably cite Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" which actually shows the tenor going to a low A.........Sousa was an idiot......or the arranger of the piece was an idiot.........either way, there is no low A.

Maybe your teacher is using some sort of Zen saxophone teaching practice. "If a low A is written on your part, and your saxophone can only play down to a low A-sharp, does it make a sound?" Maybe he's hoping that in your search to find a note which does not exist, you will reach some sort of higher, more enlightened understanding of the tenor saxophone.
And now on a less sardonic note (no pun intended), I have actually seen a low-A alto, so I assume that somewhere someone out there has made a low-A tenor before. You wouldn't happen to have three instead of two large keys on the ascending section of your bell would you? If so, whatever you do don't sell that horn!

When all else fails, you can play a low a-sharp and put the bell of the sax against your left thigh/knee so that it is partially covered. I have a friend who does this occasionally on alto in his jazz solos - a fun little trick for the crowd, although itonation leaves a bit to be asked for.

man listen there is no such thing as a low a cause my there just isent...there is only 1 way and thats if u pull ur mouth piece to the very end and put ur leg over the bell and thats he only way i know of i say just take it up an octeve good luck man !
