I was just wondering if you HAVE to have a Dial-indicator thing, I think Popkin makes one. I'm just starting out reed making and I'm buying supplies, and the Dial thingy is like $180! If you can get by without one please tell me, or like a cheap alternative. Thanks!

obviously no one has responded so im guessing you don't understand me. i'm talking about a Dial-micrometer. it has a big dial with a little blade with notches on it. its used for measuring the width of each individual blade of the bassoon reed when it is together.
if you are still in the dark about what the heck im talking about, just nevermind.

try Beaumont Quality Tools, 612-922-1954 He sells industrial tools, measuring equipment, tool and die equipment etc that you can easily adapt to reed making, you may get cheaper prices.

No, you don't need the dial micrometer. You can make great reeds without it.
