I recently bought a 6-hole wooden fife. As a 6-year flutist, I thought "Hey, they probably have the same fingerings." Well, they don't. I think the chart that came with the fife is inaccurate. Does anyone have a good chart? Please e-mail me, as I will probably not be checking back here.

 Th fife charts may 2different keys of fifes.If it is in Bb,a D fingering for a C fife would create a C note.On a D fife a Bb would play a C.If it is a C,a C fingering will make C.It is F,a G would make a C.Try using a C instrument(such as a tenor,or C flute)for reference.Notice I transposed.Bb is up 2 half steps(G=F)
,D is down 2 half steps(Eb/D#=F),F is down 5 half steps(C=F).
I'm pretty sure different octives of notes cause for different fingerings.
