But how far do u put it into your mouth? I can get it to squeak real easy (i dont have the actual bassoon yet, just the reed) and the closer to the base part i get the higher the pitch. How far in?

you should put it to where you can just barely feel the metal bindings on your lips.

a little further out than that not only is it a matter of preference but how far in or out of your mouth the bassoon reed is it will afect your intonation:in sharp out flat
