I have recently been given a Hohner tenor recorder.
I've previously only played descant recorder and flute, so this is new to me.

2 questions:

1. I'm having trouble getting Aflat / Gsharp (1st octave) to play in tune.
When I use the standard fingering the note sounds very sharp. I've tried a couple of alternates that I got off a recorder website. These play more in tune, but the tone is poor. Any clues?

2. My tenor has a key over the low C hole - ie. not a double hole. So how do I play Csharp / Dflat ?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

The standard fingering for the tenor recorder is the same as for the soprano/descant recorder, although some of the alternatives can be different.

For Gsharp, you should use Thumb, 1st finger, 2nd finger of left hand, 1st finger, 2nd finger and half-holed 3rd finger of right hand.

If your tenor recorder has a single hole covered by a single key at the bottom, then you can't play a C sharp.
