Author: Robert

I am beginning and am having trouble hitting a low C.
I can do if go down the scale G, F, E, C.
But when try to start at low C or go from G to low C, I get noise.

Anyone have suggestions that can help me?

It can be difficult to get the lower notes on a sax. Work hard on your embouchure, often it is too tight for the low notes or simply not correctly placed on the reed.

However, also have your sax checked out. Even the smallest leak will make it difficult to impossible to play the low notes.

Presuming your instrument is in good order, make sure the reed you are playing on is not too hard. The harder the reed, the more grip you will need to make a sound and also the more tired you will get. Play with as relaxed an embouchure as possible and use the tongue to start the note.
