 Is Flute Easy To Learn?
Author: Walter Heinz Tanquintic

I am getting interested with music and would like to play a musical instrument very soon. Before I buy a flute and send myself to a music school, I would like to know if the flute is easy to learn? Is it more difficult than a piano to operate? If my choice instrument is not advisable for beginners in music, then what should I try first?

I started in the musical world on the recorder as a young girl and then progressed to the flute , I would say the only dificult thing would be learning to actualy get notes out of the flute, seing ads you have to get the correct ombroshure , appart from that i thik it would basicly be the same as any other instrement

Is Flute easy to learn, you ask. Well, that question is kind of hard to ask. I will be seventeen years old in september. I will then have played the flute for four years and you want to know if it's easy. Why do you want to play the flute? Why did you choose it? If you truely want to learn it, then it will be easy, as long as you pace yourself and don't get frustrated when you've been playing for two months and still cannnot play your scales. Personally, I find the flute much easier to play than the piano. When playing the piano not only do you have to read the bass clef and the treble but you have to do it simultaenously. In addition, you have to play different rythyms at the same time. When playing the flute, you only read one line of music at a time and it is always written in the same cleff. Musical background of any kind helps when learning a new insrtument. The first instrument you learned to play will probobly be your best instrument but if you want to learn the flute I suggest buying an inexpensive one to start out. Wasting your time with renting a flute will waste a lot of your money. If I would have just bought a flute in the beginning, it would have saved me a lot of money. You can buy a nice 'beginner' flute for a few hundred dollars however the price of flutes ranges up to more than 6 thousand dollars. Contact Woodwind and Brasswind and ask tell them your situation. If you buy one, you can get a 'student' flute or one of the 200 series.

I'm a clarinet player with a big overbite, and personally I think the only thing hard about the flute is geting the notes out in the right octave and with a clear sound. At first it is difficult, though. I picked up my friend's flute and in 20 mins. I could play 6 notes and a few songs.

I'm a beginner in flute.
I just bought the flute yesterday. YAMAHA 225S.
My first instrument is the piano.
Second instrument is MIDI music. I compose music.
And now my third instrument is the flute.
I thought it was easy.
But.......I tried a whole day and still can't blow out a sound. Not to mention notes.
I'd rather stick to MIDI music at least I can generate flute sounds by it.

whjen i started the flute my mum bought me a beginner flute, and then about 4 years later i got a new one, it was much nicer and is much more advanced, yet it cost the same, i think the best way to start the flut, if you know you want to play is to rent one fopr a few moths and then to get, not a beguinner, but a open holed with a b foot, from the manufacturer, you save allot, my flut wold of cost over 1000 in a shop but because i got it from the manufacturer it cost me $700 it is lovely, and you can get plugs so, realy it starts as a baguinner flute

I think flute is easy to learn. I started on piano but I find piano much harder than flute. It will be easy if when you start playing the flute you have a private teacher that you go to weekly to teach you to play the flute.

Just like any other instrument, flute takes many hours of practice to learn. There will be many frustrating times followed by many proud moments. It takes a lot of work to master playing, so you have to set little goals and be very proud when you meet them. You'll relize though that music teaches so much, and the lessons yuo learn through music are priceless.

Flute is not necessarily going to be easy but it is one of the less difficult instruments to learn. The only problem you might have is getting a sound out at first. If you want a very easy instrument to play, try saxophone. But stay away from oboe, bassoon, and french horn because they are among the most difficult instruments.

I strongly suggest the recorder. I´ve been playing it for 2 years and tomorrow is my first flute class. The flute´s fingering is almost the same as the recorder´s. The hardest part of the flute is the blowing into it. If you can play the recorder, the flute´s fingering won´t cost you much.

it all depends on the person I just started the flute and I love it it didn't take me very long to reach 1st chair but it might be harder for you. I think if you want to play it bad enough do it. it is a fun instrument to play.

I think the flute is pretty easy to play, on my first year playing I was first chair. It does get challenging as you progress but its fun. I started when I was 9, and I'm 14 now and have been taking provate lessons for almost 3yrs.
Go for it!!

i'm 13, and this'll be my third yr on flute. it's not extermly hard, but keeping vibrato, and low pitches are challenging to me. high notes are fun to learn and perferct.
i hope this helps you with your decision any !!!
