I know how to play a variety of instruments, including all of the saxes, and the soprano clarinet. is the fingerings for the contralto the same? if i were to read off of another clarinet part, would I read off of the soprano, alto or bass clarinet? (meaning which one matches the contralto key) thanks for any help you give!

The fingerings are the same as the rest of the clarinets. If you are own the concert band the best part to play if you don't have Eb Contralto clarinet music is the Eb baritone saxophone music because the parts are usually the same. The contralto can read Eb alto clarinet music but I think it is best to use the bari sax part. If you have a Bb contrabass clarinet, you might want to try the bass clarinet, tenor sax, or bartitone (treble clef) part.

I just made the auditions for the Wind Ensemble at my high school and was asked to play contra(alto and bass) and i was just wondering whether there were any keys on those that aren't on the bass.

hello katherine,i can somewhat help.if you are wondering,it would be the same unless you have a part 1 or 2 sheet,it should be the same if ones part 1 and the others part 1 but if they are different,the music keys should be the same,sincerly,Miki.
