I play a c-foot flute and was wondering what the advantages to a low Bb foot were. I get good response all the notes from low C to fourth octave D# (can't quite screech out the Eb-4 or anything higher). Does having a low Bb foot help hinder the response in the higher octaves? And if I should get one, can I just buy the foot and stick it on my flute, or do I have to buy a whole new flute? I really like my c-foot!
 ~Thanks

It all depends on the make and model of your flute. You cant just go out and buy one. I had this problem a while ago!!! I hope this helps!!

The advantages of a B foot (no such thing as a B flat foot that I know of) are 1) can play a low B (some songs, but not many require it) 2) It tends to mellow the shrillness of high notes.
So, if you don't need the low B and you are happy with your tone on the high notes, don't worry about it. You might want to check the discussion group on the Altus website. I think they discuss this in a little more detail.

And, may I add, that any thing above C-fourth octave is difficult to play anyway, so the B foot wouldn't affect it all that much. I, personally prefer a B-foot, and if you want to advance very much, flutes automatically have a B-foot. If you want to do with only a C-foot, you would probably have to get it special... :-)

i have seen at one website (i cant rember which one) where you can get a C foot but it also has another attachment that will, when you put it on, it will then be a B foot. its some kind of really fancy handmade model.
it probably cost a ton of money and nobody cold afford it anyway but i thought it was cool.
