I've been playing basson for about a month and I'm having SO much trouble playing the high G but i can get all of the other notes above that... Then I have the Gb, i do the correct fingering but the sound splits, I've tryed using an alternate fingering that i figured out by pushing only the the first finger on the right hand but i'm having so much trouble with that note... PLEASE HELP! I can also use some tips... And, does anyone know how to make bassoon reeds?
btw. What does the upper left thumb thumb key on the wing joint do?

For high g do play the whisper key and half-hole first finger of left hand. For fsharp,no whisper key,no half-hole just 2nd and third fingers of left hand, bottom eflat key with little finger and then with the right hand 1st and 2nd fingers plus bflat with thumb. I know another 20 fingerings if this doesnt work!! Brian

If you have 5 left thumb speaker keys the very top one is for high d and csharp and for some high trills. Brian.
