Hey i play the tenor sax and i have noticed black stuff on my reed what is it

most likely mold. Make sure you let your reeds dry out before you store them.

mold.. yes it is mold meaning you probably store your reedsin a covered case.... my band directors make us store our on a piecs on plexiglass w/ rubberbands...but hey ...it works

Mould is black? I thought it was greenish? If your reed tastes like chocolate then it Is mould. And you should change your reed every few weeks. If not, you might major ulcers.

mold can be any colour....and im not kidding ive seen red mold , black mold, green mold blue mold even some shades of purple...but the most common mold on reeds is black or green...
