you could fluttertongue although this technique is heard better on the flute and on brass instruments. because of a clarinet's mouthpiece and the way a clarinetist must perform the technique, it should be called "gutteral throating". you could also try vibrato, not a special effect but not commonly used by clarinets playing classical music. then there is also using percussive sounds like key clicks and slaps.

Theres a great song out there for Alto Sax called Improvisation 1, by Ryo Noda. This sorta deals with sound effects and stuff, and i don't see why you couldn't play it on the clarinet.

you can try gowling. that is a jazz technique, in which you hum and play at the same time. it is tricky to get used to, but it is fun to do. you can also play with just the mouthpiece and the barrel and make neat sounds. use your finger in the bore to change the pitch, don't clog the hole or you cant produce a sound. fluttertounging, all you really need to do is roll your tounge, like when you roll R's. experiment with pieces and different ways of playing. if i'm bored when i'm practising clarinet, i experiment with different ways to play, and you can find ways of playing that sound neat, and many more that just don't work, have fun with it. hope this helps.

I can't tell you too much; I'm a bassoonist, but I have a teacher that plays Clarinet, and has for like 70 years. He can do this thing where he slowly starts half-holing all the holes and it is like a glissando. It sounds like a Clarinet trombone mix.

Thats a smear. Best example of that is the opening of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Funny thing is, that Gershwin didn't write it that way, but his clarinetist was having some fun at rehearsal and did it. Gershwin liked it so much he had him do it at the performance. It's been played that way ever since.
