Hi I am a sophmore playing the tenor sax for school. I have played a couple of years and taught myself. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what type of mouthpiece I should be playing on. Thank you for any help you can give, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think that a Meyer mouthpiece would work very well
I use one for my alto and i love it!
Also, you might want to look into a Rovner Ligature

The question is: What do you want to sound like? Low baffle mouthpieces sound "darker" than ones with high baffles. Do you want to sound like Lester Young or Mike Brecker?

Thank you for your help. I am looking for a mouthpiece to give a good marching and concert band sound. I was wondering if anyone knew the numbers of the mouthpieces. Thanks

I use a Selmer C* on my tenor in marching and concert band. It gives you a really dark sound, if that's what you're looking for.

Hi, id also suggest a meyer. I've talked to a lot of people about it and the Meyer is an excellent choice for any level player..for marching band/ concert band id go with a 5 and id suggest play testing at least three and picking the one you think sounds best. Thats what i played on all through Marching Band. Its one of the most versatile mouthpieces out there, good for jazz too.

hey, i play tenor too. the best quality and most fmous type of mouthpiece for tenor sax is the hard-rubber type. it doesnt really matter what type of brand it is. it depends on what ur price range is... u can get one 4 $20 or $2000; it varies... but hard-rubber is defiately the best. im a jazz lover, and practically ALL of the great ones use hard rubber.....
