 Professional Bass Clarinet...
Author: Ashley Painter

I am a graduated high school senior looking to buy my own bass clarinet for furthered study. I want an advanced or a professional model, preferrably moderately priced. I've been researching two new brands which have had good reviews, one being Allori and the other Amati. has anyone heard of these brands? Does anyone have any pointers or main points I should look for while shopping?
Thanks for your time.

i have heard of Amati, that can get you into the intermediate levels, but not professional. this is the same with jupiter, vito, bundy, they are good beginner and some are good intermediate level instruments, but not professional models. Yamaha and Selmer can give you a very good professional model. although, there is no professional model that is cheap, you do pay for quality. if you find a professional model for $300, be wary. cheap pro models can be found on ebay or even in local shops, but if they are cheap, there maybe something wrong that the reason its being sold cheap. a few tips, always play test, if you are looking to study on that instrument for university/college reasons, you'll need it playing its best. if you buy off the internet, you have no idea what you could be getting into, it could look good, no dents, but play like crap. it would be good to bring your own mouthpiece, so you aren't using someone elses that you don't know where its been, but also you know how you sound with that mouthpiece. hope this helps.

I know first hand that Vito and Bundy are god awful most of the time. I think you should investigate into WWBW (WoodWind BrassWind) at wwwbw.com. They have some pretty nice deals on some good quality instruments, talking from experience. I got a great Bass Clarinet from them to the low C that plays expertly, or rather I play it expertly.....Anyway it was only $1500 and it was a great buy.
