Hi, my name is Taylor and I am a Senior in High School... I plan to major in Music education and the University I want to attend asks for an audition in order to get accepted to the music department. In the audition information it says to prepare my Major and Minor scales because they'll be part of the audition as well as two Contrasting classical songs.. What do they mean by that and any suggestions for which songs to play? (for Alto Saxophone) Thank you

It means to play a piece with a fast or lively tempo with technical stuff in it. This is to show the command of the skill on your instrument.
Another piece would be a one with a slower tempo and this is used to show your phrasing, lyrical and basically to show a good tone on your instruments.
Hope that helps.
