I'm a beginner and I'm reading that you shouldn't puff your cheeks out when blowing, As a matter of fact, I have a beginner's DVD that shows a girl with braces who can't be older than 15 blowing beautiful sounds without even a slight puff in her cheeks.
I can't seem to set my embouchre this perfectly and my cheeks puff out no matter how "straight faced" I try to blow.. Any hints?

errrmmmm.... this is really hard to give an answer to. can you whistle without puffing up your cheeks? its kinda like that but with a sax... thats not too good is it?
okay. maybe try not using so much air. it could be that not enough air is getting into the horn, and so with nowhere else to go, it goes to your cheeks.
i don't really know... embouchure has never really been a problem for me. i just look at other people and copy them. same with fingering technique.
sorry. wish i could help.
