Both instruments you have chosen are difficoult to play but marvellous. If I were you I will choose bassoon, it has a complitely different way to play instead of clarinet (bass/tenor clefs, different positions) so you won't be confused.

Which ever one you want. The oboe is an important instrument in an orchestra/band, and the Bassoon sounds awesome, but if you pick bassoon you have to remember that it will be hard to find ANYTHING for it. Unless you live in L.A., Toronto, London eng., or New York NY, most things you get will most likely be ordered in. But, Bassoons are in high demand. You don't have to worry about music b/c you can just pick up a t-bone or euphonium BC book and it'll be the exact same thing. ex: I wanted to buy a new case. Couldn't find a single one in the city(I live in Winnipeg(city of 700,000)). Had to order it in.
You will find alot more Oboeists to help you than you will find bassoonists. In five years, the only bassoonists I've met is my instructor, an instructor at camp, and a student that went to my school last year(in her first year of playing).

wow!! rade 5 music the most i can play is a grade 3 and barley grade 4. i know a lot of people who play oboe and says that it is very tricky. but it all depends on wich instrument you feel is easier to do. but i think that you should continue doing clarinet, hey your pretty good

Try Oboe and English Horn you may feel more comfortable with those.
