Some things to try: If you haven't already, remove the ligature and reed, and separate the barrel from the rest of the instrument. Hold the barrel in one hand, the mouthpiece in the other and twist in opposite directions. Strong hands may be needed - fathers and husbands are helpful for this. Also, GENTLY rock the mouthpiece back and forth. The above procedures may need to be repeated several times.

If this doesn't work, I suggest a trip to the repair shop before using a knife.

Lrt us know when you achieve succesfull separation.

If the barrel is really stuck in the upper joint, never, never twist the barrel with force ! By twisting with great force, you'll damage either the tenon or even break the barrel. You may also bent the keys of the upper joint. I suggest you take it to the repair shop and have it separated.

Good Luck

First, try getting it cold (but not too cold!). Hold it, say, against a cool metal filing cabinet. If that doesn't work, you could hold it up against the freezer (but do NOT ever put it inside, or leave it...you only want it there for less than a minute, and you only want the top of the clarinet to get near the cold). When the wood contracts, ask someone who's strong to hold the instrument carefully and try to pull it apart (twist). Never, ever use a knife. If you can't get it apart, take it to a repair shop. At that time, have the wood cut down slightly so that this doesn't happen again.

Hi

I have the same problem I got my brand new mouth piece stuck on to the next section of my Eb Clarinet a few weeks ago and still havent been able to free them yet. I took mine to a repair shop but they said all i could do was hope that the cork would dry out and the two pieces might come apart eventually. I keep trying to gentlely pull them apart but with no luck so far.
Sorry I know this is not encouraging, but hangon in there! you mihgt get it free!

Good Luck!

uhhh...from what i kno...depending on what its made of...DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE COLD...some chip, some break, sometimes the pitch gets ruined..you may wanna use some cork grease...that kinda yy its there...so that you barrel or bell or anytihng else..will not get stuck..its always best to put on a small layer of it before you play

Just to let you know, I didnt use mine for a couple a months (a rench I know!!) but then I got my dad to try and twist it apart with his hands and it suddenly came free! the lady in the repair shop said this would happen eventualy as the cork dries out.

Good Luck!
