 Fox-vs-Loree
Author: Debbie

I am thinking of buying a new oboe and was wondering if anyone had played the Fox and the Loree instruments to compare them. It is very difficult to get a Loree (and expensive) and I have heard a lot of good things about the Fox instruments. They are easier to get, but how do they compare. I was also wondering about the Yamahas.
Thank you,
Debbie

hey, I've never played loree and they are expensive so lets not talk about those. As far as fox, they are pretty good, fox is a very nice manufacturer, I believe them to be better than the yamaha, which are also pretty good, so do some research and see which of the two fits you and your financial situation.

P.S.
-check out the Woodwind and brasswind catalog, thier prices are great! go to this URL for a catalog

hello,

I have owed a Fox oboe for the last six years. It has been a great instrument. However, I believe that it a better advanced student model than a professional model. If you want to buy a professional oboe, I suggest buying a Loree. My Fox has been great, but I find that it no longer meets all my needs as I advance.

As to the reference about how great yamaha oboes are, they "SUCK"!!!! Every time I have tried a yamaha oboe, I have been deeply disappointed. They never seem to work they way they are supposed to.

Within the next couple months, I will own my own Loree oboe. If you have any questions e-mail me. If you are looking for better prices, there is a store in Wichita, KS that has excellent prices and warranties on loree oboes. They are even better than the Woodwind and Brasswind. The warranty covers two years rather than one. If you are interested, their at <www.wichitaband.com>.
