Hi! I'm a junior and I play clarinet in my high school's Wind Ensemble. I'm auditioning for All State in New York in June, and I'm going to play the first and second movts. of the Poulenc Sonata for Clarinet and Piano. In the second movt., there's this one high G, and it's supposed to be mezzo forte. I've checked out the fingering charts here, and I'm quite impressed with the variety. However, I'm still having a lot of trouble to get this G in tune, with a good tone, and quiet enough so it doesn't "pop" out. I'm auditioning in 2 weeks, and I really need some help. I was wondering if any of you know this sonata (some of you probably do).

hey erica! well, I'll tell you what I bet you already know...
-tighten up that emboucher
-remember, its not slurred, so just practice the transition from the C right before it to the G
-try a different mouthpiece if you have one at your disposal, or maybe with a really good reed it will make the tone better
That's all I can think of...hope that helps a little bit!
