 Baroque flute fingering chart?
Author: Sue Thomason

I've just bought a Baroque flute (copy): conical bore, one key. Is there a fingering chart available online/elsewhere? (One that will actually enable me to play all the chromatic notes in e.g. Telemann -- I can already play it "in Irish" folk style but Irish music doesn't go in for chromatics...

Sue,

I haven't seen any baroque flute fingering charts on the web. An excellent book for baroque flute is Jan Boland's Method for the One-Keyed Flute. It has detailed finger and trill charts. A fingering that works well for one flute, may not work well for another. The book shows alternate fingerings, and makes suggestions on adjustments, e.g., in embouchure to play notes. Folkers & Powell sells the book. Their web site is:

Hope this helps.

Bill
