Dear Nora,it would be a good idea to get to know someone who plays a flute on a regular basis.I bet they can tell you what the best flutes to consider in purchasing.For example I have just started playing a alto saxophone.So I am aware even though there are probably many,many types I know that Selmer or Yamaha are good saxophones to choose from.Hope you find that special "flute"!

I've been told that Yamaha and Gemeinhardt are good brands to buy. If you're in band or take lessons talk to your teacher. If you don't have a local music store that sells instruments (There isn't one in my town), check out www.wwbw.com . They have a LOT of instruments and you can pick whether you want to look at student, intermediate, or professional models. Good Luck!

hello again. in case you don't see it, somebody replied to one of my posts recommending AGAINST Gemeinhardt, and said Pearl flutes are good. just another opinion to consider
