 Multi-Instrument stands
Author: Wind, Woman, and Song

I'm upgrading my instrument stands - partially due to the fact that the base is missing (I still have the 2 pegs!) probably left at last gig but was too busy breaking down sound system to notice,
and my old Lavoz is missing it's lug nut.

I would like to hear from doublers about what stands they are using and other recommendations.
Some of the stands out there are terrible for gripping the bell on the saxes - the ol Lavoz was much better.

Instruments include - Alto, Tenor, Curved bell Sop Sax, Clar, Flute, Piccolo (And a rented Alto flute for upcoming show)
Obviously I won't need to accommodate all these Instruments at the same time, and I can use a stand holder for the picc, but what would be sturdy and
best for a pit/big band situation?
thanks

I have a LaVoz stand for my tenor/clarinet/flute.

I also have a similar no-name stand for my alto/clarinet/flute set-up.

I bought a single stand (peg with base) for my straight soprano. Interesting question--is there such a thing as a curved soprano stand?

I made a cradle for my piccolo. It fits on the front lip of a music stand and holds the picc just underneath, right in front of you. Very accessible for quick switches.

I've used these set-ups in pit orchestras for 25 years and have been satisfied.

Here's what I use:

alto or tenor sax = Beechler stand.

flute, alto flute, piccolo = Blayman pegs on a Hamilton 5-peg base.

clarinet = Blayman peg. It can go on the Beechler sax stand or on a separate Hamilton 5-peg base.

bass clarinet = Hercules stand. (best thing I've found for BC)

I'm a big fan of Blayman pegs. They are pricey but extremely high quality and well designed. I sprung for the bucks and I've been happy with them ever since.
