Has anyone played this show? According to Bret Pimental's site and Tam-Witmark the reed books break down as:

1: Piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone
2: Piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone
3: Clarinet, tenor saxophone
4: Clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone

I would be able to play 1, 2 or 3. Does anyone else have any more detail?

It's been some time, but that sounds right. I know there weren't any double reed horns needed. R2 is mostly clarinet.

It's a challenging book: a much wider variety of styles (jazz, rock, swing, latin, blues) than you usually get in one show.

Books have arrived. And it turns out that due to budget constraints, I'm the only reed. So...the piccolo parts are minmal and can either be played on flute or are doubled on 1 of the other parts. For most part, I'll be able to cover everything, albeit a bit thin, missing a bunch of harmonies. Will use flute, clarinet, tenor and alto. Will have pieces out of all 4 books (playing a 4 measure cue of bass clarinet on tenor out of book 4). Will be 70%+ plus book 1.

Will have an "orchestra" aka combo run thru or 2 of the music in Februrary, tech week is the week of March 9, we open on Friday, March 13 and run Friday-Saturday-Sunday for 3 weekends. Stay tuned.

It's tech week. 3 more rehearsal tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday. A preview on Thursday. We open on Friday. It's working out pretty well with only 1 reed player. The only issue is that we are on platforms that are about 5 feet off the floor of the stage with room that was designed for at most 4 players, not 6. BUT...it's fun anyway. I'm to the right of the keyboard player/musical director so watching for cues is easy.

More later this week.

1st 3 shows done. 6 to go. Reed parts are a bit thin with only me but it's indeed a personal challenge. Our music director/keyboardist supplies much of what's missing. The only place where I need the tenor is a bluesy underscore solo in WITH EVERY BREATH I TAKE, which between now and weekend 2, I'm going to try to transpose to alto and see if I can eliminate 1 horn. Easier warmups and will allow more space.
