anybody have any information on these horns? where are they built? how do they compare to Yamahas, Selmers, Cannonballs, Keilwerths? anything would be appreciated.

I've not played a buffet bari but I own alto and tenor buffets. I don't think they are Mark VI's but they are very good horns. There are a couple of models out there. Of the vintage horns the super dynactions are suppose to be the best. I do think they are comparable with other pro horns but especially with saxes - it's what works best for you. Remember, however, it's the Indian and not the arrow that makes the warrior.

Buffet hasn't been making saxophones since - I think the early 1990s or earlier (everything after that has been a stencil). So any that you buy can be considered "vintage".
They are not considered for jazz but more classical .. at least that's the way Buffets tend to be. All the above horns you mention compare differently. It all depends upon the tonal qualities you are searching for as to which fit better. and then mpc selection, person playing it, etc
