 Advice for new bari player
Author: adrienne

I just accepted a gig on Footloose, which includes a baritone sax part.
I don't have one and I don't have a setup, so I have a lot of work to do and I need your help.
Getting the actual instrument doesn't concern me; I am more concerned about finding a good setup quickly so that I can go try out instruments and start practicing.
Here's a bit about me -- I'm originally a clarinet player, and so my saxophone setups tend to be a little more closed. On tenor, I play a metal Otto Link 5 with Vandoren ZZ 2.5. (My alto setup is a hard rubber custom mouthpiece with ZZs and an Optimum ligature.)
Can anyone out there translate what that would mean I should be playing on bari?

thanks!!

(oh, and if anyone is selling a low A bari for a low price in CA, please let me know!)

For accessories, I like the BG harnass (the only accessory that is gender-specific) and the K&M instrument stand.

When I was in a swing band, I used a Selmer E mouthpiece and Van Doren 3 reeds with no complaints.
