I have procured a Bettoney bass clarinet (E) that has no peg. Probably from the 20s. My lovely husband has cleaned it up and gotten it working but I need a peg.
I have seen pegs that have sort of a cup that straps onto the bell, or the kind that has a metal sleeve you have to attach to the bell somehow and is fitted with a screw.
Does anyone have any advice about this? I would WAY rather use a peg than a neckstrap. I will be making fast changes to BC, I don't imagine I will ever play it except in a pit.

Best bet would be to have a tech cannibalize the peg mount from an old bass and braze it onto your bell. Alternately, they may have a surplus bell with peg mount that will fit your instrument.

One of the major music supply houses carries a add-on peg assembly. I have seen these soldered onto horns as well as (the two thumbscrew variety) attached to the lower joint of the horn. Maybe a hundred or so, parts and labor included.

I've had three bass clarinets get the peg assembly attached to the bell by a tech. It's an easy, inexpensive operation and works nicely.
