Performing a new PETER PAN score

I have the opportunity this week to play a new PETER PAN score that has only been performed once before in North America. A product out of the UK, with music by George Stiles and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, and a fun score to perform. One woodwind book: flute, piccolo and tenor sax. There are some difficult flute parts and considering I have had the book less than 2 weeks, we had a read thru with the cast last night (they are doing a "staged reading", not a full production) , things are going fairly well. 1 dress rehearsal tomorrow night, and then 1 fundraiser performance on Saturday and we are done. Fortunately, some of the very difficult flute parts are including in the small handful of cuts that have been made.

If you get the opportunity to play this one, do so. It's a great score. And we are doing it with just me, 1 french horn, cello, acoustic/electric guitar, electric bass, percussion and 2 keys, one of which is our MD. Looking forward to the performance.

Ron
Selmer Mark VI tenor (1957), Selmer Mark VII alto (1975)
Buescher True Tone soprano (1924), Selmer CL210 Bb Clarinet, Gemeinhardt 3SHB Flute, Pearl PFP105 Piccolo

So, the music is completely different from the old score? New songs, overture, entr'acte, etc.?

Having never played the original, I can't say for sure, but I do believe this is all new. No overture. We go right into a piece called "Something in the Air"
and some other great songs that I have never heard before. The original score was Lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne. This score is by the pair that wrote the new songs and additional music to the London and Broadway hit MARY POPPINS.
