A local theatre group is doing this in March. Had anyone played it? It's an old '50's show. Per Tams-Witmark (and of course our friend Bret Pimental's fabulous website), the reed books are clarinet/saxophone doubles with optional flutes and double reeds. Just thought I would ask for opinions here in our forum.

I did it twice. It was a fun, good show. I played Reed One (alto, flute, clarinet, and piccolo). It's been a while but I do remember the wind arrangements having some great writing, particularly on one of the standards that came from the show, Just in Time. The other hit is The Party's Over.
Just pray that you get to play with a full or near-full set of woodwinds, so you can enjoy all the colors.

Chances of having a full woodwind section is remote. Have the CD from the library. I agree. Good wind writing. But if I could play with just 1 or maybe 2 other mult-reedists, that would be great. But low/no pay doubling is not a popular art form in the Cleveland,OH area.

Yeh, Ron, I think the first time I played it there was no pay involved. But there were 5 very good multi-reed players who were willing to do it for no bread just for the fun of it.
