I placed this on clarinet board, did not see the flute one at the time.
I would like either referral to an expert or an expert's opinion on a baroque flute that was passed down through my family.
It is "Stanesby Junior". YES, it is real baroque flute, not a reproduction or copy. I know this because it passed, over time, through the family. With a bit more effort I could probably track down its progress prior to it being passed on to me. That side of the family came to this continent in colonel times from England. (I am DAR eligible).
It is in good condition as it was not played and was treated and stored as an antique heirloom.
I have so far learned this was English maker.
I had some minor restoration done so it is playable. The wood is intact with no significant cracks.
I can discuss in more detail with a knowledgeable individual off the forum.
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me more about it.

Hi ClaireAnette
I often see your posts in the clarinet board but the lack of activity in the flute section means I rarely come here even though I am a flutist (modern and baroque).
In regards to this flute I think you need to seek information from only the most reputable of experts. Certainly don't trust any repair person who is not a historical flute expert anywhere near it. As a stanesby junior flute it's valuable and possibly of great historical significance.
Can I suggest starting with the Earlyflute group on the yahoo groups thing. I think you have to register but it does get read by some of the worlds best makers and researchers. There are also some face book sites - 'baroque flutes of the world unite'. or search up David Lasocki (email me if you have trouble as he is on my friends list) who would be able to point you in the right direction.
I'd love to hear more about the story or further developments that come about with this instrument.
Good luck
Brad

Thank you.
Believe I might need some help on that email as I could not find it online?
Yes, agreed, but need to find that authority! Not being s flute player, I did not know what it might be until I tried to find info recently. Quite a few have asked me to send them flute to evaluate...yeah, rrrrright....anyway, thanks.

! Um don't send it anywhere. The site linked to your name seems to be out of date. If you send me an email at bradslater@hotmail.com I'll send you the direct details of some people to contact.
Cheers
Brad
