King is Conn-Selmer. It's just one of the many old bygone brands. It's value may be just around $200. People are more apt to go for known modern brands.

The flute should play fine so long as the pads are in good shape and it's in good adjustment, you may even find the tone of that flute to be nicer than some of the new student flutes being sold nowadays.
