 embouchure problems on bassoon
Author: &*b6IU

Hello,

I am a frequent visitor of the bassoon board, but this is my first time posting.

I have been playing bassoon for about two years now, and only now I am having trouble with maintaining my embouchure as I am playing. I am noticing that as I am playing my face tires out really fast if I am playing music with few rests for more than a few minutes. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and/or knows how to fix it.

Thanks!

It’s normal for newer bassoonists to feel facial fatigue during long passages without rests, since embouchure muscles need time to build endurance. Shorter practice sessions, relaxed long tones, efficient breath support, and checking that you’re not clamping too tightly can help strengthen stamina. Over time, consistent practice will make maintaining embouchure easier.
