The Bassoon BBoard

I was wondering if someone could help me with a bassoon I was interested in buying. I saw it on craigslist and was told it's almost new and has no markings on it identifying the manufacturer or model number. Could it be a decent bassoon or does it sound suspicious that it has nothing stamped on the bell?
Thanks,
Julie

If the maker fails to identify himself and there is no I/D on the instrument then I would be very suspicious.
There are a very limited number of makers of decent bassoons in this world and they are only too happy to identify their instruments for all to see.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking. May be it's Chinese? It just looked so nice in the picture and they only wanted $1200 for it which is the highest I can go. Oh well.

There have been quite a few Fox and Renard model bassoons going for good prices on Ebay lately. Much better investment.
