Hmm...I had a similar problem with my oboe about a month ago. Just a thought - what kind of screwdriver are they using?

I was trying to use one of the cheapie eye glass screwdrivers. They have a very small handle diameter (so you're getting almost no mechanical advantage) and the metal is of poor quality (so the flathead is easily warped). The low-C adjustment screw that closes the E key (for high C#) could loosen, but I couldn't get it to tighten and I was sure the teflon end had simply worn to much and I needed to replace the screw.

I switched to a better screwdriver (one of those Craftsman ones with the black and red handle) and the screws turned very easily.
