Hi I’m getting back into oboe after several decades. I majored in oboe and played a few semi-pro gigs.
Instead of trying to get playing and reeds chops back at the same time, I’d like to buy reeds initially.
What are the best sources for buying reeds online? I played American scrape reeds, Pfieffer-Mack and RDG -1N shape, although I’m not stuck on a particular shape. Just looking for something that crows a 2 octave C at 440, has decent response and good pitch stability.
There’s a lot of reed makers out there but I’d like to get some unbiased options. I’ll probably narrow it down to 2 or 3 makers based in feedback, order a reed from each, and see which I like best.
Thanks!

I'll be curious to see this, because I have found out that SO much depends on your altitude and climate. If you're at a near-sea-level humid climate, you might actually be able to find bought reeds that work. If like me, you're at altitude and very low humidity, you're unlikely to find anything that works that is not made by a person in your location.
