Any recommendations please wonderful expert friends?
And also, does anyone know of a resource similar to ridenour book on clarinet fingering... But for oboe?
And where can I find a fingering chart that uses the third octave key? I can only find charts that don't include what to do when u have that key?
Thanks everyone
Love u all!

Leon Goossens & Edwin Roxburgh OBOE (Yehudi Menuhin Music Guides) comes to mind straight away and is a handy paperback book for general reference. For a good fingering guide set of charts for all woodwind key in www.wfg.woodwind.org. As for the 3rd Octave key , I've alway regarding that little feature as something for the professionals. I've personally had no need for it as I've never had any desire to go higher than top F natural. I've also heard that it is a bit of a nuisance to keep in adjustment.

There are several...
The Oboe by Philip Bate
The Oboe by Burgess and Haynes
Oboe by Menuhin and Goossens
Oboe Technique by Rothwell
Woodwind Instruments and History by Anthony Baines
Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics by Arthur Benade
I am sure there are more. More in reeds and mechanics of modern oboes. I learned a lot from Bate, Burgess and Bains books. Rothwell is one of the most useful concise summary of oboe playing essentials. Benade is an excellent knowledge book about how instruments work.
I hope this helps.

Sorry, these are not pedagogy related books. I have not seen published pedagogy for oboe. I it is rather different in the US from Europe.
However, for US... browse internet!
University of Arizona has a good list I thought. I remember seeing some in other universities.

Actually, I've blocked off the third octave key on my 2005 Loree because I simply don't need it. The instrument plays fine up to high G and even plays above that without using the key. To each his or her own!

Wes. Thanks for that information. Will keep in mind. I intentionally got an oboe with this key (see.. Extra cost there) .. So I will try and use it before giving up on my extra dollars! Lol
