Question/part survey I suppose - what is "proper" technique for C to D.... Roll or slide? Or is it a matter of personal preference? Read somewhere that it was actually a combination of both... I tend to slide vs roll, tho two teachers ha advised me to roll....
Thanks again!

Rolling is a safer bet compared to sliding as your LH index finger may not slide easily under some conditions. Also rolling is better suited should you play cor anglais or oboe d'amore with a split top plate.

Either will work, but I slide on both oboe and EH. In "The Art of Oboe Playing" Robert Sprenkel recommends sliding because it encourages lighter finger pressure.

I was taught by one teacher to slide ... since it keeps the hand in a better - less cramped/twisted position. My first teacher taught to roll ... however, I slide now. It guarantees the half hole will be uncovered.

Thanks all! I think at this point my inclination is to do a somewhat combo...I don't think about it anymore -there's too many other things to think about like my embiuchure lol... Besides it's enough to roll my wrist on high A etc....
