My oboe suddenly stopped working the other day! I discovered that a pad was missing. I fixed that. But it *still* doesn't work. I can't play these notes: low C, (low and high for the rest of these) C#, D, and E♭. I think the issue is with the E key (second on the middle joint). I have absolutely no idea what it could be though. The cork pad is intact (replaced earlier this year). Does anyone out there have any idea what could be going on?? By the way, I have a very basic beginner oboe (I'd get a more advanced one but I can't afford it).

What I need is an adjustment guide like Brian Seaton's but for the Dual System Oboe. Does anyone know of one ? Seaton's guide is excellent for the lower joint , but I need a similar quality guide for the upper joint of my Dual System.

Use the same adjusting guide for the top joint as per conservatoire system for dual system oboes - the adjustments are exactly the same as they're conservatoire system instruments with an added thumbplate.
The thumbplate is only holding down the con bar when it's released, but make sure when it's held down there's a small gap between the thumbplate linkage and the con bar to be sure the small Bb and C pads fully close.

Hi Chris. Thanks for that. I've cut and pasted your reply for future reference.
