Has anyone tried using shaped bass oboe cane for a baroque oboe? From what I can glean from online sites, the diameter of bass oboe cane is still generally smaller. What is the general diameter range/gouge thickness of bass oboe cane?

I have used Baroque oboe cane for making bass oboe reeds. The commercial bass oboe cane (gouged, shaped, folded) by Glotin is (in my experience) not wide enough to make a serviceable Baroque oboe reed nor a bass oboe reed.

Ah, the Glotin was what I was thinking of buying. Good to know. On the flip side, I bought shaped Bonazza baroque oboe cane and found that way too wide.

If you come to the IDRS I will have Baroque oboe shaper tips designed by Steve Hammer in the Westwind booth. You can probably find appropriate cane there to try out the shape...
