Do you know the EH player?

Hello all,

Recently I have been fixated on listening to James Caldwell's recording of Le Tombeau with the old and now defunct Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra. Does anyone have a lead on the guy playing 2nd oboe and EH?

I would wager that Michael Finkelman would know this answer.

Finkelman confirmed that it is absolutely Fred Capps (former EH of the Minnesota Orchestra).

On youtube there is video footage of the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra in concert in 2010. Did they close down after that? Or were they revived after the time you were referring to? One of the postings is of the beginning of the Vaughn-William's Concerto with Geoffery Deeker (?) playing very well. Regards, Loree BF51

The Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia was an orchestra started in Philly in the early 60s by then concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra Anshel Brusilow. Some people claim that this orchestra rivaled the great Philadelphia Orchestra. The story I have heard is that Eugene Ormandy felt threatened by this new orchestra and had it shut down. It was only in existence for a few years.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia is a different orchestra all together.
