 Myaskovsky 27, Bruckner 9

In case you have you have a ridiculous amounts of spare time, an orchestra I play with posted recent performances of Myaskovsky's Symphony 27 and Bruckner Symphony 9.

I had never heard of Myaskovsky, let alone heard of any of his music, but this symphony is mind blowing, and stunningly gorgeous. Lots of oboe solos (me performing), and English Horn solos (with Hannah Selznick of Hannah's oboes performing on EH).

Also posted is Bruckner Symphony 9, with the 4th mvt which had sketches left behind completed by William Carragan. This piece also has massive amounts of oboe solos, hence the three oboes plus an assistant principal!

Your subject line makes it sound like Bruckner lost, in a rout.

I only had time to listen to the first section, but it sounded wonderful! Great work by you and Hannah. What gold-keyed oboe are you playing there?

Absolutely lovely!
CBC radio does play his stuff once in a while.

The nice thing about a computer-job is that I can listen to this while working.

Fine orchestra indeed. Good job playing you and Hannah! Your sound suits the repertoire well.
