Can i whine for the sake of whining?
Hardness of cane determines the gouge. To do so one has to buy a very expensive hardness tester. Me = Poor.
Gouging machines has to have the knifes replaced almost once or even twice a year depending on how much cane you gouge. (I am lucky to have an Udo Heng rotary blade system) Still, it's expensive. Again, me = poor.
Life without a profiling machine is like hell. I have to practise, i cannot just sit there scraping away. Soon, summer comes and i wont be able to afford to make bad reeds. No profiling machine = No consistent supply of reeds = poor.
Reeds....what are we without you?
