Hey everyone!
As of today, I am the proud owner of a brand new Fox 400 oboe! I love the sound, and the evenness of the scale is absolutely sublime! I absolutely love everything about this instrument. Except... there is key binding going on in the A flat key. When the LH A flat key is depressed, the G#/Ab doesn't come up like it is supposed to. When the RH A flat key is depressed, the G#/Ab pad raises up, and will not come back down. My teacher has confirmed this to be a case of binding keys. On top of what information she has given me, any one else have tips? She mentioned filing something down with fine grit sand paper as a last resort. Also, are there any other tips for the care of a new oboe? As far as breaking in a new oboe goes.
Thanks!
