Left F is the best key in the world!
It reduces the amount of times that we have to use the "forked" F.
The reason that the normal F's (left F moves the same keys as regular F) sound better is that they are positioned in such a way on the bore that it produces an F that is in equal temperament to the surrounding notes. The forked F is almost a harmonic fingering, and due to its position in the bore it leads to a really stuffy sound.
In short: Left F good.
