 Wind Instrument Tuning Problems

Need your opinions on wind instrument tuning devices.
I'm in a concert band that has intonation problems. One night 3 different tuning devices ( battery powered) were used which got different readings. They cost about $ 60 or more.
Do you think they are accurate or about as faulty as cheap tire gauges ?Thanks. DQ
