Regarding the audio UTube clip I found, this is a response from the President of Ivory Classics which has re-released some of Earl Wild's recordings:
"That is indeed Earl Wild performing (Whiteman too I'm sure), but Earl Wild was not the pianist on the original soundtrack of the movie. I don't know who was - I would assume it was Oscar Levant. Earl performed in public with Whiteman and on radio and TV frequently. Where this performance came from I could not say. I know it's not the one that I released on Ivory Classics in 1997 (that was a 1945 recording with Earl and Whiteman - and Al Gollodoro, which incorporated a small group of voices as accompaniment)."
So, Al Gollodoro was the clarinetist on the clip JM posted and also recorded with Whiteman with Earl Wild as soloist on other recordings, however, the clarinetist on this Earl Wild album remains a mystery--as does the source of the recording.
