I too agree with Ken on this one...I find as of late Leister to less expressive and somewhat dry at times in terms of style..he tends as of late not to differentiate soft and loud as much as when he was a younger player. But, he is truly wonderful and has a great sound!
However, he is an incredible player and a master as well as an excellent role model for any aspiring clarinetist.
As to the Trio his first on DG is my favorite, but if any collectors are out there the Prinz version on Eurdisc(Munchen) is absolutely first rate.
Leister with Amadeus in the Quintet from 67 is unbeatable~!
I shall be playing the Trio this summer at a chamber music festival...so I'll listen to the recent Leister offerring again!
