 Harold Wright and sibelius

As a former student of Harold Wright I would like to let everyone know there is fine Sibelius symphonic cycle featuring the Boston Symphony under Colin Davis on Philips.

It is now at budget price and the recordings are all excellent. These used to be on lp and led me to eventually seeking out Mr. Wright as a teacher.

some excellent moments in this cycle:

Solo first movement of Symphony No. 1
Scherzo of this work

Ist movement of symphony 2 has great winds!

slow movement of symphony 3 has truly great individual wind solos!

Try the slow movement of 5 and check the wonderful rubato in places

for a truly epic feeling listen to 7 and be completely mesmerized.

This is truly a great recording cycle in vintage Philips sound!!

Wright was a truly amazing musician. I am glad to see there is a great library of solo chamber and orchestral recordings. I am hoping that many younger players run to get the available recordings, (especially those on Boston Records) to hear him. There is nobody else like him.
